Hello. I am Dave Ramsey and this is my website. I am seeking your vote for Commissioner in District 1 in Madison County.
As you know, Madison County is in a growth corridor that goes from Atlanta to the Greenville/Spartanburg area of South Carolina. Until recently, we have not been affected much by growth in our part of this corridor, but that is beginning to change.
I lived in Gwinnett County from 1980 to 2002. I experienced the rapid growth there, and moved to Madison County to avoid the sprawl and discomfort that unplanned growth created. I believe that we still have an opportunity to preserve many of the things we cherish about our lifestyle. We can, with “smart growth” policies and actions, keep much of our farmland and open spaces, attract good businesses and jobs, and have the amenities that our citizens desire to live happily in this beautiful place.
Even if we wanted to, we could not stop people from moving here. Many are coming for the same reasons that I did. As we welcome newcomers to our county we must invite them to join with us in keeping alive the features that we treasure about Madison County.
